I’m Isa, your wedding celebrant!

Your ally and something blue for your ideal wedding.

For nearly a decade, Bel Altar has been my space to celebrate bicultural love through bilingual ceremonies.

As your celebrant, often wearing blue – the color of communication and the throat chakra – I bring a unique perspective shaped by years of facilitating English-Spanish simultaneous interpretation.

This experience reinforces my belief that ceremonies are about the resonance of emotions, beyond just words.

Dear couple and new friends, I look forward to welcoming you to Cartagena de Indias to give voice to your dream wedding.

Isa's multiverse: TIBABEL & Bel Altar

A brief exploration of my two worlds and how they have shaped my life as a communication enthusiast: TIBABEL stands for the corporate realm, the mind, while Bel Altar symbolizes love, the heart.

This unique balance not only enables precise translation but also emphasizes the value of understanding different cultures worldwide. Ultimately, we all want to connect!

  • In 2005, after my information technology degree in Cartagena de Indias, my first interpreting job was helping a US real estate investor renovate historic homes. This sparked my passion for language communication.

Gradually, I improved my language skills by working as a freelance translator for agencies and taking courses in Colombia and the U.S.

In 2015, I materialized my dream of starting TIBABEL, a translation and interpretation business. This entrepreneurial journey, was the key that opened doors for me, allowing me to actively facilitate communication between English and Spanish-speaking leaders and companies.

TIBABEL taught me leadership, teamwork and organization skills, turning challenges into opportunities for more cultural connection.

Fun fact: I served as the personal interpreter for former President Bill Clinton during his visit to Cartagena de Indias, assisting with his Foundation's projects.

  • My journey celebrating bicultural love began with Bel Altar in 2018, although it actually started earlier.

While working with TIBABEL, a wedding planner who recognized my skills at her events, she trusted me with wedding translations. Her support encouraged me to embrace my role as a celebrant that year.

In this role, I found a truly inspiring aspect of translation, which helps me guide couples from different cultures in creating their unique bilingual ceremonies. The aim with Bel Altar is for uplifting experiences that unite hearts and families, regardless of language.

The seahorse symbolizes the special language of love that endures, aligning with Bel Altar’s mission. Just as seahorses stay together for life, I strive to design ceremonies that celebrate your lasting connection.

Fun fact: I’ve had the privilege of uniting couples from various countries, including Canada, China, England, France, Hungary, India, Iran, Mexico, Switzerland, Taiwan, the USA, and of course, my beloved Colombia!
